Paulding County’s 12 Step Program

By Tom Milanese

I had the opportunity tonight to speak to the Paulding County Board of Commissioners and to express my dissatisfaction with the current process a resident has to endure while trying to find out who their county commissioner is.  Following several emails and phone conversations with various county employees, I am now able to recommend the following 12-step program for residents who do not know what post they reside in and/or what their commissioner’s name, phone number, and email address is.  Coincidently, or maybe not, the process for looking up one’s tax bill is much simpler.

1.  Go to www.paulding.gov

2. Click on GIS GeoExplorer Mapping on the left-side of the page

3. Click on “No, please take me to GeoExplorer”

4. Click “I Agree”

5. Click the “Search” drop-down menu on the middle part of the toolbar

6. Select “Find Address” on the drop-down menu

7. Type in your home address and click “Find”

8. If “Processing” takes longer than 30 seconds, try clicking “Find” again.

9. Once a match is found, click on “Neighborhood Info”

10. Once new window pops up, double-click on the third title down from the top called “Commission Districts”

11.  You will now see your District (Post), your commissioner’s name, phone number, and email address.

12.  Now pick up the phone, call your commissioner, and tell him that the residents of Paulding County need an an easier way of finding out who their commissioner is!

  1. You can go to http://www.politicaldatasystems.com, click on “Voter Lookup”, enter your last name and zip code and click “Search”. It’s incomplete, but I’m working on getting statewide commissioners loaded, then school board.

  2. It’s about time somebody figure this out. Thanks. :)

I already knew who my commissioner is, but that’s only because I asked one of the guys who is running for a Post commissioner spot.

Thanks Tom. I know who mine is too but I think your idea could make it easier to get the info. Thanks to Brian Keahl to. It sounds as though he will have something completed soon that can help also.

  4. It’s pretty well running for Paulding as of the date I posted. I need to get commissioners and school board folks for the rest of the state so those outside Paulding will have the same capability. Right now they only get State Representative, State Senator, Congressman, etc. County office info is not readily available in one place.
