I just discovered the following posted at http://www.paulding.k12.ga.us/

Message regarding President Obama’s Address to Students Across the Nation:

On September 8, schools around the nation, including those in Paulding County, have been encouraged to participate in a special webcast featuring President Barack Obama. The president’s message (according to the latest White House release) is directed toward students in PK – 12 and is expected to focus on the importance of doing well in school. The president will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning.

The Paulding County School District is focused on instruction and teaching the state’s curriculum, the Georgia Performance Standards, so that students can achieve and exceed in their personal and educational goals. The U.S. Department of Education has provided lesson plans for PK-6 and 7-12 teachers. These plans are suggested only and not required. The address may be taped or viewed live. Individual schools will determine the appropriate time, based on their instructional day, to view the address. Parents may also inform the school if they wish to have their child opt out. No child will be penalized if he or she does not participate in the broadcast.
Families will have the option of watching the president’s remarks with their children outside of the school day, as the speech is expected to be available on both the White House (www.whitehouse.gov) and CSPAN (www.c-span.org) web sites after the broadcast.
